Randee Williams
Center Director
Randee Williams comes to KnowledgePoints with a successful and varied career in both direct student instruction and education administration.
She has been a third-grade teacher, a high school English teacher (all grades), and a special education teacher, working with students who had learning disabilities. She has taught large groups, small groups, and one-on-one individualized education instruction.
For ten years, Randee was the state director for America Reads-Mississippi, a national AmeriCorps program, with a cadre of 350 full-time reading tutors who tutored elementary students across the state. The program was nationally recognized and became the largest AmeriCorps program of its kind in the nation. Prior to Mississippi Reads, she worked at the Mississippi State Department of Education, where she served on a team that provided assistance to low-performing schools. Most recently, Randee served as Volunteer Programs Supervisor for Pasco County Schools.
Originally from Minneapolis, Randee has lived in Germany, Mississippi and 20 years in Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, certification in secondary English and special education, and a master’s degree in education leadership.
Randee believes all children can learn and be successful, and she understands the importance of students believing they can learn. She says, “My son did poorly in middle school math and really hit the wall when he started high school. He was sinking fast, so I got him tutoring. After two sessions, the tutor told me my son did not believe he could learn math because he thought his brain was wired differently than other students. Once the tutor was able to convince my son that he COULD learn math, he went on to do well in high school math. Several years later, when he graduated from college, his first job was a middle school math teacher! So I know both personally and professionally that every student can be successful given the right encouragement and instruction.”
